【报告题目】: De Broglie's Legacy and Heavy Photon: Shaping the Future of Quantum Technology

【报告摘要】: At ultra-low temperatures atoms behave like waves described by their de Broglie wavelengths. The ability to control coherence and explore wave–particle duality makes de Broglie matter waves central to emerging quantum technologies. In this seminar, I present a toolbox for controlling and manipulating the dynamics of ultracold atoms and discuss the application of the ultracold atoms in quantum simulations leading to a range of cutting-edge applications, such as,  quantum computers, quantum microscopy, gravitometry. The presence of external periodic modulation in these atomic systems provides additional parametric control. I explain the canonical quantization of the modulated atomic system using gauge transformation.  

  在超低温下,原子呈现由其德布罗意波长刻画的波动行为。对相干性的可控操控与对波粒二象性的探索,使德布罗意物质波成为新兴量子技术的核心要素。本文报告将介绍一套用于控制与操纵超冷原子动力学的“方法学工具箱”,并讨论其在量子模拟中的应用,进而通向一系列前沿方向,如量子计算、量子显微术与重力测量等。外加的周期性调制为这些原子体系提供了额外的参数调控自由度。最后,我将通过规范变换阐述该受调制原子体系的正则量子化处理。

报告人简介】:Dr Farhan Saif obtained his PhD degree from the University of Ulm, Germany. He is presently serving as a Professor of Electronics and Physics, at Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan. Dr Saif’s research areas include ultracold atoms in optical fields, quantum computation, quantum information, optomechanics, quantum metrology, quantum/atom optics and driven systems. He is leading the Quantum Computing and Nano-Devices Laboratory, QAU where he supervised twelve PhDs and sixty MS theses. He has co-authored a book titled ‘Optical Forces on Atoms’ published by IOP Publishers, UK. 

  法尔汉·赛义夫(Farhan Saif)博士毕业于德国乌尔姆大学(University of Ulm),现任巴基斯坦真纳大学(Quaid-i-Azam University)电子与物理学教授。其研究领域涵盖:光学场中的超冷原子、量子计算、量子信息、光机耦合(光机械)、量子计量学、量子/原子光学以及受驱动体系等。他创建并领导真纳大学量子计算与纳米器件实验室(Quantum Computing and Nano-Devices Laboratory, QAU),已指导完成 12 篇博士论文与 60 篇硕士论文。赛义夫博士合著学术专著《Optical Forces on Atoms》(《原子上的光学力》),由英国 IOP Publishers 出版。
