【报告摘要】:Ultrasound is the most frequently used imaging tool in clinics. It is low-cost, mobile, and has good spatial resolution and imaging depth. However, the contrast in ultrasound imaging needs improvement. Conventional ultrasound imaging primarily provides qualitative information, and the imaging results depend strongly on the scanner operator. Quantitative ultrasound (QUS) imaging can provide quantitative measurements of tissue properties, increasing the specificity of image findings and improving diagnostic ultrasound. However, most current QUS methods have poor spatial resolution and significant variance in the estimated parameters. In addition, a reference phantom is needed to account for the system factors in attenuation and microstructure imaging. In this talk, I'll present recent work to address the above limitation in current QUS methods. First, I will introduce an analytical expression for the diffraction factor of a rectangular linear array, which can enable reference -phantom-free QUS. Second, I'll present an explicit expression for the point spread function (PSF) in synthetic transmit aperture ultrasound imaging and its application to imaging tissue anisotropy. Last, I'll introduce a model for measuring phase aberrations to image the speed of sound in tissue. The proposed methods could improve the sensitivity and specificity of QUS for early disease detection.
【报告人简介】:徐远,加拿大多伦多都市大学物理系教授,长期从事生物医学成像物理与多物理场耦合成像方法研究。其工作以物理学为基础,融合生物医学工程与电子工程,致力于发展新型医学成像技术,用于癌症等重大疾病的早期检测与精准诊断。在磁声断层成像(Magnetoacoustic Tomography)、光声断层成像(Photoacoustic Tomography)和热声断层成像(Thermoacoustic Tomography)等方向开展了系统研究,在成像物理模型、重建算法及成像机理方面取得重要进展,在国际医学成像领域具有较高影响力。
